Italy reported 74,350 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 14,719,394, according to the latest statistics released by the Italian Ministry of Health on April 1. A total of 154 new deaths were reported, with 159,537 deaths in total. A total of 82,443 patients have been cured, with a total of 1,388,370 cured. There are 1,271,487 confirmed cases.
In the past 24 hours, some 510,000 novel coronavirus tests have been completed in Italy, with a positive rate of 14.44%.
The risk index for the spread of COVID-19 in Italy rose to 1.24 from 1.12 last week, according to the latest weekly epidemic report from the Institute of Higher Health on March 31. The incidence dropped slightly to 836 cases per 100,000 inhabitants this week from 848 cases last week. Intensive care units increased by 0.2% to 4.7% this week compared to the same period last week. General ward occupancy rose to 15.2 percent from 13.9 percent last week.
